The Floral Park Art League of Long Island is one of the oldest art leagues in Nassau County.
It was established in 1956 by a small group of artists who would meet in each other’s homes to discuss their work. In 1969
the members voted to open the league to include artists outside of Floral Park. In 1970 the league moved to its present
home at the Floral Park Memorial High School. And in 2006 we became a non-profit corporation.
Demonstrations
Although FPAL is a grass roots league members include professional as well as amateurs from all over Long Island and NY
State.
Awards and Recognition
What the Floral Park Art League offers its members:
* Monthly demonstrations and meetings featuring professional teachers, art supply manufactures and renowned artist.
The League meets the first Monday of every month (except July and August) at the Floral Park Memorial High School
(Vanderwater and Plainfield Ave.) at 7:45 PM. In September the monthly meeting is generally held on the Third Monday.
One need not be a member to attend. Guests are always welcome.
* Two outdoor member shows provide an opportunity to exhibit and sell. A spring and fall show and sale is held at Floral
Park Memorial Park or at Centennial Hall. The Spring Show is juried with cash prizes.
* A monthly Newsletter offers an invaluable source of information including many upcoming shows and opportunities of art
happenings on Long Island and elsewhere.
* You’ll have the opportunity to display your work at the Floral Park Library and North Fork Bank and other venues.
* Discounts at local art supply retailers.
* Free samples from art supply manufactures.
The Floral Park art League is dedicated to promote artistic growth and give artists and opportunity to advance their skills.
If you are an artist who wants to meet other artists, find out where there is an art class, or hear about a new technique. If
you just want to get together with a nice group of interesting, talented people and watch an art demonstration, come and
join us. Apply for membership. Support from all patrons of the arts is welcome.
